Prepare to be Obsessed With the Idea of a Wedding Zine
Luna & Nick set the stage for an epic celebration with a one of a kind zine invitation
I have said time and time again that I’ve befriended the absolute coolest people via the internet. Sometimes, I actually cannot believe how creative and talented the people who follow me are. Earlier this year, Luna and her now husband Nick reached out to me and asked if they could send me their wedding invitation because they thought I would get a kick out of it.
Boy were they right!
In recent years I have seen a rise in this concept of wedding newspapers, and I’ll be honest, it’s really hit or miss for me. I don’t know exactly why, but sometimes I am a little off-put by the execution. It can feel like an unnecessary expense, something that will ultimately end up in the trash without a super clear purpose.
But Luna has been a TikTok pal of mine forever, so I trusted that she knew what would get me going…
What arrived was the most amazing zine invitation I had ever seen.
“I used to make little zines in my rebellious high school years and my fiancé studied graphic design casually in school, so we decided to do a zine wedding invitation together,” Luna told me earlier this year.
I cannot wait to share their entire day with you all next week as our November “Let’s Party” feature. But when Luna and Nick said they had scanned in their zine invite and were happy to share, I knew I had to give it its own newsletter. You’re going to freak out. It’s so chic, it’s so personal, it’s so… sexy? I can’t get over it honestly.
Luna and Nick played to their unique strengths and made something one of a kind. I’m so glad they shared a copy with me, and I’m even more ecstatic that they are willing to share with all of you!
Let’s dive in shall we?

Additional notes from Luna because hot girls don’t gatekeep:
“We printed the wedding invite with Newspaper Club (ed note: they did the mini size!). We sourced a lot of the art/icons from Pinterest or Google Images but altered them on inDesign. Obviously very DIY and not something I would do if I was planning to sell a zine or something like that. Nick hired out a couple things on Fiverr, the ‘Hand in Hand’ font on the cover and the map of the property.
We had our engagement photos for the invite taken at two of our favorite restaurants in Portland, which happen to be right next to each other. The first, Dame, was where we had our first official dinner date (as told in the zine). The second, Gabbiano's, was where we had dinner the night Nick proposed to me (also told through our zine). Fun little side note: We both love Stanley Tucci so much, so we loved having a poster of the Big Night behind us in a couple of the engagement photos (see the page for ‘Dine-In Date Night’).
Our save the dates were sent well before the invite zine. I spent a few months collecting vintage Oregon nature postcards! Every person got a different one. We made a stamp on Zazzle to stamp each save the date with information on the wedding, but hand wrote everyone's name and address. I love how they turned out.”
I can’t thank Luna and Nick enough for sharing all the amazing details about their wedding paper goods. The vintage postcards! The custom stamp! The entire zine! It’s all so thoughtful and well done, I just know it will inspire everyone who sees it.
Stay tuned for a full deep dive of their gorgeous wedding weekend next week, and if you have any questions let me/Luna know below! We’ll do our best to help.
I assure you I will go back to this a million times to view it. I am stunned and impressed beyond compare. No joke!
Thanks so much for sharing, Shannon!! It was a labor of love and we are so glad we did it.
