I Can't Stop Thinking About This Celestial Holiday Collection
Once again, not sponsored (wish it was).
Some of you may remember my trip to Anthropologie’s Holiday House on the Upper West Side in September. Each room was decorated differently and highlighted all the new holiday decor by Anthro/Terrain. Everything was festive and fabulous, but one room stood out dramatically to me and has not left my mind— the Celestial Winter Wonderland Forest room.
For as much as I love the holidays, I really don’t love a lot of holiday decor. I find it cheap and sort of tacky. It’s why I have spent hours on eBay and Etsy trying to find vintage pieces that speak to me and will hopefully remain timeless and tasteful for years to come.
But this room was an ah-ha moment. It was about nature and winter. Honestly I think it was the room that was supposed to lean more towards Hanukkah, but what I saw was twinkling decor that could be rolled out in late November, maybe even for Thanksgiving, and then stay well into through the new year.
What I really want is to do a full send on my mantle with their incredibly overpriced delicate garlands.
I am this close to ordering the $78 Leaves and Mirror Garland below. Imagine it delicately intertwined with my greenery, catching the light of my candles.
One of my biggest regrets this season was not ordering the Shooting Star Garland before it sold out. Sure I’m on the waitlist, but I’m not holding my breath. There are dupes a-plenty on the internet, but none with this perfect star shape.
The wishing tree. I saw it and thought of Little Bear’s winter solstice episode, as well as the episode where Little Bear finds his mom’s old charm. But mostly I thought about how pretty it would be as a November-January decoration. Aka a really good investment.
These LED branch lights are so pretty. I ordered some Amazon lights that might scratch a similar itch and I will keep you posted, but I love the sort of wily, fairy-like energy these have.
At this point in my decor lusting, I realized what I’m really craving is a Folklore/Evermore motif. As a side note, I would pay an embarrassing amount of money to see how Taylor decorates her house for the holidays. We know she’s a big Christmas girl.
The vibe of these ornaments above and the heart locket stands below really please me. I don’t even know exactly why, but they give off a Baz Luhrmann energy that I dig. The hearts could also make an encore appearance for Valentine’s day. Again, smart investment pieces.
So anyway, I’m addicted. Have I made a singular purchase from Anthro? No. I’m not a Rockefeller! But I will be stalking the sale section intensely as the season progresses.
Inside of me there are two wolves: vintage maximalist Christmas (see my tree from last year), and this Celestial Woodland Winter. The thing about Woodland Winter is that it gets so much mileage. It doesn’t have to be confined to just December. I envision slow rolling out some of these pieces in the living room for November, then as Christmas gets going full swing post Thanksgiving, I can transition the Woodland pieces into my bedroom, which I like to keep very serene and less kitschy. Then when January rolls around, maybe some of the celestial pieces linger so long as snow stays in the forecast.
I am going to start working on my Thanksgiving mantle and holiday decor this week. So far I have this garland, these lights, these pinecones and these candlesticks from Zara home. I will check back in when I am happy!
I'm so into that anthro room! Growing up we turned every light in the house off every night (as everyone does) expect for the tree lights and I just loved that glow going to bed, and sometimes waking up and going past them having that little light. I need to recreate that!
Your voice is unusually good, Shannon. "Wily, fairy-like energy" made me want to buy, like now, and I don't even decorate!
